Wix devs have just made some big changes to the website builder, most of which are of eCommerce variety. These changes are geared towards improving your site visitor’s shopping experience and if used wisely, can translate into better sales.
New payment methods. Now, in just a few quick steps Wix users can set additional payment methods. The new players are: Offline payments, PayPal and Authorize.net. Tip: It’s important to provide as many secure payment options as possible, since multiple choice during checkout significantly reduces cart abandonment.
New product page layouts. This new feature allows you to choose from four main layouts that can be then fine tuned to winningly position your products and brand. The new layouts have been built with an eye towards eCommerce: more visuals, less text and noise.
Hover effects. Well-designed hover effects are all the rage these days. They allow us to view product details and access key information/additional views with less effort. If executed well, hover effect adds a professional touch and interactivity to your website.
Post purchase message. A ‘Thank you’ message is another brilliant way to improve your site visitors’ UX. Use the new Wix feature to inform your shoppers that their order has been received. Keep your ‘thank you’ message laconic and sweet. Make sure it matches the philosophy of your brand.
You can create and publish a webstore using Wix free of charge. However, in order to accept payments, you have to subscribe to the Wix’s eCommerce Premium package: $16.17 (yearly plan); $19.90 (monthly plan).
