While Shopify is definitely one of the big players on the eCommerce market, there may be reasons why you’d prefer to go with another platform. Here, at SWB I don’t have many bad things to say about Shopify – in my opinion, it perfectly balances ease of use and efficiency; but of course, this functionality comes at a price.
Whether you’re a smaller seller who can’t afford the Shopify plan you need, or you’ve tried Shopify and didn’t like it, or you’d just want to broaden your choice before you decide where to build your online store, here’s my look at four awesome alternatives to Shopify.
Though Wix isn’t a specialized eCommerce site builder, it can still be a good Shopify alternative, especially for those looking for quick and easy way of creating a site. New Wix’s ADI interface will help you build a site in less than one day.
The flexibility of the platform lets you easily grow your online store into a complex feature-rich site with stunning design, attractive blog and special eCommerce apps (Hotels&Restaurants for instance). Also lots of another features can be installed from Wix App Market. The cost of eCommerce Plan starts here at $16.50/mo.
uKit is a website builder that specializes on creating websites for small business owners. It has more than 250 templates in 35 different categories – from real-estate and building to tattoo and nail master. For more convenience to its users, uKit proposes built-in Ecwid Shop widget, where you can sell for free up to 10 products.
uKit has a very simple pricing: $5/mo if you want to pay month-to-month. But if you subscribe for entire year, this price is discounted to $4/mo. Moreover, with SWB promo code this cost is being reduced to 25%. I think, that $36/year for complete website with hosting is a really smart decision for those who wish to create a small online shop.
Tip: if you want to know a 25% discount promocode, just drop me a message through the feedback form.
Weebly isn’t one of the strongest Shopify competitors, but it still deserves a spot in our rating being one of the most user-friendly eCommerce platforms we’ve seen. Weebly has quietly carved out a niche for itself as a tool for those who want sell handmade goods online in an easy to manage way.
Weebly has a Starter package, that for $8/mo lets you to create a small store with a 10 product limitation. The cost of building fully-loaded eCommerce website powered by Weebly starts at $25/mo. With this plan you can create a store with unlimited products to sell.
But if you want to attract your customers with gift cards or build an e-mail selling campaign, you should subscribe to Performance Plan for $49/mo with monthly billing. Note: all prices are for yearly subscriptions. If you want to pay month-to-month, the prices will be higher.
Volusion provides an incredibly rich set of features, which coupled with ease of use will probably make it a worthwile option for most eCommerce needs. It’s a website builder for the more experienced online store owners who own high volume stores.
The downside of Volusion is that it doesn’t offer any built-in blogging solutions. Volusion plans start at $15/mo and go up to $135/mo.
There are many more sites like Shopify; in our post we’ve only mentioned those that differ from Shopify in the preferred user group, pricing and ease-of-use. Happy site building!
